In this Bible study, we will be exploring creativity and how it is important to God. We will look at what the Bible says about creativity and innovation, and we will learn about some of the most creative Bible characters. We will also see how God has used creativity in Bible stories to bring about transformation and redemption.

So whatever your field of creativity may be, let’s dive in and learn from the Bible how to be more creative!

Ready? Let’s go…

Why is creativity important to God

One of the first things we see in the Bible is that God is a creative God. He created the universe and everything in it out of nothing. And His creativity didn’t stop there! We see how God has used creativity to bring about His purposes on earth throughout history. For example, He used a burning bush to get Moses’ attention, and a donkey to speak to Balaam! God is creative in the way He works, and He wants us to be creative as well.

Creativity is one of the defining characteristics of God himself! We are made in God’s image, which means His likeness as far as spiritual and intellectual nature. Since we are made in his image, it only makes sense that we would be creative as well.

God is a creative God, and He has created us to be creative as well. We can see this throughout the Bible in the stories, verses, and characters. As Christians, we should pursue creativity and use it to glorify God.

What is creativity according to the Bible?

But what does it mean to be creative? According to the Bible, creativity is using your imagination to make something new. It is using your God-given talents to bless others and bring glory to God. And it is taking the resources you have been given and making something beautiful out of them.

Bible verses about art and creativity

These verses speak to the fact that God created us for a plan and purpose. He did so intricately, and when we turn to Him and His word, we can renew our minds. With that, we can be transformed to be more creative. Furthermore, we can also pray for the Lord to enlarge our territories as far as our giftings and creativity.

Here are the verses:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”- Colossians 3:17

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”- Romans 12:2

“And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship,” – Exodus 35:31

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” –Genesis 1:27

” For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”- Psalm 139:13

” I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”- Psalm 139:14

” My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139:15

“Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” 1 Chronicles 4:10

Examples of creativity in the Bible

Creativity is important to God because it was through creativity that He created the world and everything in it. In Genesis, we see that “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 ). Not only did He create them, but He also saw that His creation was good. Therefore, since God is a creative God, He placed a high value on creativity.

In Exodus 31, we see that God not only values creativity, but He also expects His people to be creative. In these verses, we see that God tells Moses to appoint Bezalel and Oholiab to lead the work of those who are skilled in art and craftsmanship. Furthermore, God fills Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts. This shows us that not only does God value creativity, but He also wants His people to be creative.

Another example in the Bible is that we see that David was a man after God’s own heart who played the harp and wrote songs (1 Samuel 16).

These are just two examples of many that are found in the Bible. Bottom-line- It is clear from the Bible that creativity is important to God. He wants His people to be creative in all that they do. Therefore, if we want to be like God, we should value creativity and strive to be creative in all that we do.

How can this apply to Christian bloggers and Christian influencers?

We are all creative people, each one of us uniquely designed by our Creator with a special set of skills and talents. And while some of us may not think of ourselves as “creative types,” the truth is that we all have the ability to be creative in one way or another.

So what does it mean to be creative? Creativity is simply the ability to create something new. It’s using your imagination to come up with new ideas or ways of doing things. And it’s not just about art or music or writing; creativity can be applied in any area of life, from work to relationships to parenting.

As Christians, we are called to be creative in the way we live our lives and share our faith. We are called to be witnesses for Christ in the world, which means being bold and finding new ways to reach people with the gospel message.

One of the best ways we can do this is by using our creativity to stand out from the crowd. In a world where everyone is trying to get noticed, being creative can help us stand out and be seen. And when we’re seen, we have an opportunity to share the love of Christ with others.

So if you’re a Christian blogger or YouTuber, don’t be afraid to use your creativity to reach people for Christ. Be bold and try new things. Be different. And most importantly, be yourself. Because when you do, you’ll be surprised at how many people you can reach for Christ through your creativity.

Importance of authenticity and not copying others

As mentioned earlier, God has created each individual with a specific purpose. Therefore, it is not right for someone to try and fulfil another person’s purpose (through copying).

This is where authenticity comes in; being authentic means being true to oneself. When it comes to creativity, being authentic means staying true to your own ideas and not copying someone else’s. This is because each person’s creativity is unique to them and no one else can replicate it. When we are authentic, we are being true to who God made us to be. And when we use our God-given talents, we can do great things for His glory!
