2. Spiritual Warfare: We live in a fallen world where spiritual warfare is constantly taking place. This can manifest itself in various forms, such as roadblocks, hindrances, and delays that are designed to prevent us from progressing forward in life and fulfilling God’s plans for our lives.

3. Sin or Unconfessed Sins: Sin has consequences! Sometimes, these consequences take the form of delays that keep us from attaining our goals on time or experiencing the fullness of God’s blessings. Therefore, it is important to confess our sins and repent in order to be freed from such delays.

4. Lack of Faith: It is easy for faith to become weak when faced with insurmountable trials and tribulations. This lack of faith can cause us to experience delays as we are unable to move forward with the plans that God has for our lives due to a lack of conviction or belief in ourselves.

5. Lack of Obedience: We know what God’s will is for us, but sometimes, we fail to obey His commands because of fear or disbelief! This disobedience can lead to delays in receiving our breakthroughs or experiencing divine appointments on time. Therefore, obedience must be practiced if we are to experience true freedom in our lives.

Dreams that point to the spirit of delay or stagnation!

The presence of the spirit of delay, lateness, or stagnation in our lives can be a very difficult time. We may feel stuck in a certain place or season and unable to move forward.

During this period, it is important to take stock of your dreams as they can offer insight into what is happening spiritually. There are particular signs to look out for when it comes to dreams.

Please look at the following signs as you engage in prayer against spirit of delay and stagnation!

1. Dream of returning to a former school or house

If you have a dream of returning to a former school or house, this could be a sign that you are being held back by something.

2. Dream of getting lost, never reaching your destination

Alternatively, if you dream about trying to go somewhere but find yourself lost or unable to reach your destination, this could be a sign that the spirit of delay is hindering your progress.

3. Dream of disabled vehicles or blockades

I declare that even if people start before you…you will surpass them!

When dealing with delays, it is essential to look to the story of Elijah as told in 1 Kings 18:41-46.

1 Kings 18:46 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. The power of the Lord came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

In this story, Elijah prayed that God would open the heavens and send forth fire from heaven on his sacrifice, which God answered with a mighty display of power.

Afterward, Elijah outran Ahab’s chariot on foot! 🤯

We can learn from this story that even if people start before us or begin their journey first, we are not doomed to come in last; rather, we can step into our divine appointment and surpass those who have started ahead of us.

This is what happens when God to empowers us to run this race.

We pray for a fresh anointing to speed up whatever has been hindered by delays so that we can walk in the fullness of His will for our lives.

2. Recompense and abundant blessing

Joel 2:23-24 says, “Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before. The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you.”

May He grant you recompense over any delays or hindrances that are preventing His plans from coming to pass in your life.

3. Double portion

Pray for double portion over every area of your life that has been delayed or hindered by the enemy or circumstances.

Isaiah 61:7 says, “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance.”

Therefore, in the name of Jesus, we command every spirit of delay to be broken off our lives so that there can be a double-fold blessing for us.

As we receive a double portion, may we be propelled forward into divine acceleration and success.

4. Exposure to the enemy’s plans through revelation of hidden things

Pray for all the strategies of the enemy against us to be exposed and overturned by God’s divine intervention and power.

This can only be done when God is able to reveal secrets and make known what was hidden.

As illustrated in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

We can pray that God would reveal any hidden barriers or hindrances that are causing delays in our lives so that we can overcome them with His power and strength.

We declare that all delays caused by demonic forces will be revealed to the light of God, who is able to act on our behalf.

5. Haste and acceleration in the “fullness of time”

Pray that in the fullness of time, the spirit of haste will be released upon us. Why? so that we can move quickly into our divine appointment and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

Galatians 4:4 says, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.”

This verse speaks of how the Lord sent his Son at the right time to redeem us from slavery to sin. We too can pray that God would send us help and breakthroughs at exactly the right time (God-appointed time).

6. Protection from spiritual warfare-related delays

As mentioned in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

We ask for God to provide us with a shield of protection and surround us with His angels so that we experience no further delays.

May we also open our eyes to any spiritual warfare we may not know.

7. Unwavering faith during times of delay

As mentioned in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

We ask that our faith remain strong even when it seems like there are delays and hindrances set against us by the enemy.

8. Breakthrough in due season!

Pray that in due season, all plans and purposes set out by God can come to fruition according to his perfect will.

Psalm 145:14-16 says, “The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

We also pray that God would move swiftly and faithfully to bring about our breakthroughs and blessings in their due season.

9. Wisdom and understanding (discernment)

Pray for the Lord to give you wisdom and understanding during times of delay so that you can know how to act and make wise decisions according to His will.

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

May the same divine wisdom and understanding from the Lord enable us on how to act wisely in times of delay or hindrance.

10. God’s protection from damage and destruction

Pray for God’s protection over your life, and all that is connected to you so that no form of delay can cause damage or destruction.

Psalm 91:1-2 says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord; He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

May the Lord protect us from any form of delay or hindrance that could cause harm and damage to our lives.

11. Divine favor

Pray for favor to endure during delays so that you can remain steadfast, unmovable, and focused on God’s plan for your life.

Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

May the Lord grant us favor and accelerate His plans for our lives, causing them to come to pass speedily.

12. New doors of opportunity

Pray for the Lord to open up new doors of opportunity so that you are propelled forward into divine acceleration and success.

Isaiah 43:19 says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

May God open up new paths of provision and success for us as we wait on Him to accomplish His promises in our lives.
