Each prayer section will contain detailed Bible verses relevant to each point. This allows you to pour out your heart before God with confidence and assurance.

Let us take this time together to earnestly pray for our precious little ones as they navigate life in this broken world.

May God bless them with courage and strength—and grant us wisdom as we lift them up in prayer!

Ready? Let’s go…

Spiritual jurisdiction: prayer for children’s protection

As parents, we are called to take up a spiritual jurisdiction over our children. This is expressed in the bible as “train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

It’s a charge from God Himself to positively sow into our children’s lives now so that they won’t drift away later. We have an incredible opportunity and responsibility!

So let us take up the mantle of spiritual jurisdiction over our families, speaking bold words of blessing and promise to our children daily.

Let’s ensure they know just how much their heavenly Father loves them and how deeply we believe in their potential.

With our prayers, God will work wonders for them!

Different forms of protection we are seeking in prayer!

The following are the types of protection we are seeking in prayer!

Protection from physical harm

Psalm 91:3-4 – “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Pray for your children to be kept safe from harm, illness, and accidents.

Protection from evil

Psalm 140:11 – “Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.”

Pray that your children will be protected from all forms of evil. Ask that they will have discernment when making decisions and never fall victim to negative influences or peer pressure.

Protection from spiritual forces of darkness

Ephesians 6:12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Pray that your children will be covered by the blood of Jesus and have a strong faith to stand up against evil forces.

Protection from fear and anxiety

2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Pray that your children will not succumb to fear or worry but instead have peace knowing they are under God’s protection. Ask for them to experience joy, security, and strength no matter what circumstances may arise.

Protection from evil thoughts and actions

Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Pray that your children’s thought patterns will always align with God’s truth and goodness. Ask for them to remain focused on positive influences and avoid anything that could lead to negative behavior.

Protection from spiritual harm

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

Pray that your children will remain pure in heart and have a personal connection with God that strengthens as they grow older. Ask for them to experience freedom from any spiritual oppression or influence of darkness so that they can remain in the light of God’s presence.

Protection from danger

Psalm 91:11-12 – “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

Pray for your children to be covered by the wings of the Lord and kept safe from any harm, both seen and unseen. Ask for them to remain strong when facing challenges and experience victory over every obstacle that comes their way.

Protection from lies and deceit

Isaiah 59:14-15 – “And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.”

Pray that your children will be able to identify lies and deception when they come across it, so they can remain rooted in Truth. Ask for them to have a spirit of discernment to help them separate right from wrong.

Protection from negative influences

1 Thessalonians 5:22 – “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

Pray for your children to be surrounded by godly people who will encourage and uplift them on their walk with God. Ask for them to be protected from any negative influences and kept away from anything that could lead them astray.

Protection from the enemy’s devices

2 Corinthians 10:5 – “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Pray for your children to recognize the enemy’s schemes and tactics so they can remain focused on God’s will for their lives. Ask for them to be aware of any deception from the enemy and have a spirit of alertness as they go through life.

Protection from pride and arrogance

Proverbs 16:18 – “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

Pray that your children will remain humble in all their pursuits and stay away from anything that could lead to pride and arrogance. Ask for them to keep their hearts and minds focused on God, so they can remain humble in all their interactions with others.

Protection from anxiety and fear

Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Pray for your children to have peace and courage in every situation they face. Ask for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit so they can experience God’s love and comfort in times of difficulty or stress.

Increasing prayer stamina by reducing negative prayers

This is my opinion, but it’s been a game-changer in my prayer strategy.

I’ve found that it’s essential to move from negative declarations (i.e., “I come against, “I rebuke”) to positive declarations rooted in scripture, as this has the power to transform situations and bring about lasting change.

Coming against something all the time implies opposition, whereas declaring something with faith implies prevailing empowerment and strength.

When I use more positive prayers, as I’ll explain later, I feel energized and refreshed after a prayer session.

Prayer for children’s protection from the point of victory

This is part of the blog post that’s super important. I wish you could double-underline or highlight.

Prayer for our children is not about the problem; it’s about the solution. I repeat… Prayer for our children is not about the problem; it’s about the solution.

So when I pray for my children, I don’t focus on the problem at hand; instead, I declare positive declarations/ affirmations and solutions.

I’m speaking into their lives and declaring things as if they are already so…and I back them using relevant scripture.

For example, I’ll say,

  • “Thank you, God, that my child is growing up in wisdom and stature,”
  • “My child is blessed with an abundance of knowledge.”
  • “My children will excel at whatever they put their minds to”
  • “They will always have the courage and strength to pursue their dreams.”
  • “They are in alignment with their God-given purpose and destiny.”

By praying these words over my kids, I believe what I’m saying will come to pass in their lives, and I trust God to bring those declarations to fruition.

It also helps me keep a positive perspective on their challenges while also giving me faith that their future will be full of hope and blessings.

Can I be honest…I don’t have time to play or focus on the enemy’s negativity. As the saying goes…you give the devil an inch, and he takes a mile. Nobody has time for that! We have bigger kingdom fish to fry!

“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders” (Deuteronomy 33:12).

Prayer for children’s protection using scripture based-declaration!

When I pray for my children, the words that come out of my mouth are life-giving–words of hope and encouragement that build up rather than tear down.

In my prayer time, I affirm my children’s identity in God’s image by declaring His truth over them–that they are deeply loved by Him and created with special gifts and talents to fulfill His plan for their lives.

I also speak out the promises of God over them, such as that they have favor with Him and that He will protect, provide for, and guide them in all their ways.

My goal is to fill my children’s minds with truth-filled prayers, so they will know without a doubt just how loved they are by God—even when life gets tough.

With each prayer, I affirm His goodness and unwavering faithfulness to them and their destiny. I am confident that these prayers, spoken in faith, will bear fruit for the next generation of believers.

My prayers are focused on what I want for my children now and what I want them to strive for in the future.

I realize that life can sometimes be hard and unpredictable, so I speak comfort over them and pray that they may remain strong even when faced with adversity.

Positive declarations when conducting prayer for children’s protection!

Now off to some FUN!…let’s convert some of the verses I mentioned earlier to super, super positive declarations…

When you do this, you will move away from saying, “I come against, I come against…I rebuke etc.”

Yes, there is a time and place for that (rebuking), and at times you will have just to go that route, but on a daily basis, I find it enjoyable to use this technique and add the relevant scripture!

These strategic prayer blueprints give me peace of mind knowing that I’m covering all bases for the areas of my life that are important to me.

As parents, we should take our children’s lives seriously from a spiritual perspective and not just leave it up to chance or luck. God has given us His Word as an arsenal that speaks directly into our children’s spirit man regarding every area in their lives.

God has commissioned us to raise a new generation, and He has given us the tools to do so. The Word of God is a powerful weapon against the enemy’s schemes and plans over our children. So, let’s use it!

Customizing the prayer for children’s protection

The power of customizing our declarations and prayer for children’s protection is immense, as it serves as a spiritual battle plan for their lives.

When we tailor make our prayer declarations specifically for our children, we design them to reflect each individual’s specific needs or areas they need growth in– such as academic success, emotional stability, protection from harm, etc., all while providing Scripture-based support.

This is why I’m urging you to see the power of tailor-making your own declarations (through Scripture) as a spiritual battle plan for your child and how it can be used for targeted prayer points on their behalf.

Targeted prayers are especially important in this day and age, when there is so much spiritual warfare going on around us. We can use these tailored prayer points to combat the enemy’s attacks against our children and declare God’s truth over them.

Prayer 1: Sample parents’ Prayer for Children’s Protection

Father God, we thank you for this precious life and the blessing of children.

We praise You for Your goodness, love, grace, and mercy that is bestowed upon our child. Lord Jesus, please guard our children in all places at all times so they can stay on Your path to victory and success.

We thank you for your divine protection is surrounding them like a shield, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper.

Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

I bless your name that angels are around them to protect them from all harm, trouble, and danger.

We declare that their lives will be established through Your Word, so they can rise up above any challenges or obstacles that come their way.

Let Your favor rest and upon them and show them the right way to go in every situation they face in life. Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

We pray for wisdom as they grow into adulthood and let it rain down on them like a gentle shower of blessings.

Lord, we thank You for equipping our children with skillful hands and helping them to reach their God-given potential.

We declare that they will be head and not the tail, above and not beneath, as Deuteronomy 28:13 says, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”

We thank You for Your unfailing love and strength with our children at each step of their journey.

In Jesus’ name, we pray these blessings over them. Amen.

Numbers 6:24-26 says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

So Heavenly Father, we ask that You grant our child safety, health, financial provision, joy, love, understanding, wisdom, knowledge, and success in all areas of their lives.

May You protect them from harm or danger and provide for their needs according to Your perfect will. May they have Your peace that passes all understanding and be filled with Your unspeakable joy and glory.
