15 Secret Attributes of the Esther Anointing

This post is all about the Esther Anointing

The Esther anointing is named after the biblical character of Esther. She was a Jewish orphan who became the Queen of Persia circa 475 BC. Despite her humble beginnings, God used Esther to bring deliverance to His people and to defeat Haman, an enemy of the Jews (Esther 3).

In this post, I will discuss fifteen attributes of the Esther anointing. If you feel like God is calling you into greater exploits with this anointing, then this post is for you!

Ready? Let’s go!

What does the “Esther anointing” mean?

The Esther anointing is a term that is often mentioned in Christian circles. But I’ve always wondered what that really meant and how one can use it to fulfill their purpose.

Don’t worry; I did an intense Bible study and reflection. Please take a moment to wear your Berean hat (lol) as I unearth what I’ve learned…

Let me start by saying that I believe different people carry different anointings (some possibly multiple). Some people have a Davidic anointing, Elijah anointing, Joseph anointing, Deborah anointing, Gideon anointing, etc. Some people have been prophesied on or given a word of knowledge concerning the kind of anointing they carry. Once you discover the anointing you carry- study that Bible character associated with that anointing in detail! This is a vital step in walking in your purpose.

Quick side note: I’ve encountered people who carry the Esther anointing, and I’m continuously amazed at how God positions them well in situations! 💃🏾

So back to the Esther anointing…

Scripture tells us that we are all created for purpose and with purpose. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (LOL, I know I quote this verse a lot). This verse reveals that God has a plan for each of us before we are even born, and He calls us to fulfill this purpose through the gifts and talents He has given us.

The Esther anointing is the special spiritual endowment from God to empower you to accomplish your purpose. It’s often referred to as the “Queen Esther Anointing” because Queen Esther displayed it in the Bible when she needed strength and courage to confront King Ahasuerus (also known as Xerxes) and save her people. Esther 4:14 says, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

The purpose of the Esther anointing…

The purpose of the Esther anointing is to use your favor, position, and influence to the glory of God. It is a supernatural empowerment that gives you strength, courage, and wisdom to carry out His will in your life. Note: The empowerment comes from the Holy Spirit- the Spirit of God! With this anointing, you can step into your purpose and calling more confidently and powerfully.

Through Queen Esther’s obedience and faithfulness, she was able to save her people from destruction. Likewise, when we step into the purpose for which God has called us and allow Him to work through us – no matter how small or seemingly insignificant – we can make a difference in our lives and those around us.

Scripture tells us that God is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him (see Hebrews 11:6). Through the Esther anointing, you will be rewarded in both seen and unseen ways. As you activate this anointing, you can expect to see divine appointments, favor with others, open doors of opportunity, and spiritual breakthroughs come into your life.

It’s important to remember that the Esther anointing must be done out of love for God and not out of self-ambition or pride. Our purpose here on earth is to use our influence and favor for His glory and nothing else.

By understanding the purpose of the Esther anointing, we can use it to fulfill our purpose in life by trusting God’s plan even when we feel discouraged. Seek the Holy Spirit for strength and courage to fulfill your purpose and trust that God is in control and will work all things out for your good. Ultimately, you can use the Esther anointing to become a courageous leader in whatever He has called you to do.

Quick note: I’ve written a fantastic post on anointing titled “11 Distinct Signs of an Anointed Person (Manifestation),” so feel free to dive into that blog post once you are done with this one.

15 Secret Attributes of the Esther Anointing

Esther anointing characteristics

Here are fifteen signs, traits, characteristics or attributes that show you may be carrying the Esther Anointing:

1. Unique calling and purpose

You have a call to serve God’s people in a unique way. Yep! The Esther Anointing means you are uniquely qualified to fulfill God’s plans and purposes on earth! Esther was called to save her people from death and destruction, but she was placed in a unique vantage point. She wasn’t a Military King like David or a Man of Valor like Gideon. She was a beautiful Queen. This is a unique and radically different position that Esther was put in that saved an entire nation!

2. Strategic favor, influence, and position with people in authority

Queen Esther used her influence to win King Ahasuerus’ favor, thereby positioning herself to achieve God’s will (Esther 5:2). In addition we are told in the tail end of Esther 2:15 that, “…And Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her.”

If you carry signs of the Esther anointing, then you may find yourself having a unique gift for winning favor and positioning yourself with key people in authority.

3. Hidden or overlooked for a while

The name Esther in Hebrew means “hidden one.” This speaks to the nature of this anointing. Those who carry it are often hidden from sight, but they do powerful work and receive training behind the scenes.

4. Willing to face risks and challenges head-on

Queen Esther faced danger with courage when she risked her life by entering the King’s court without being summoned (Esther 4:11). Like Esther, you may be called to face your fears and take risks for the sake of God’s will.

5. Spirit of courage, boldness, and authority

When Queen Esther came before the King, she spoke with courage and power (Esther 5:2). If you carry signs of the Esther anointing, then God has empowered you to speak boldly in His name! Similarly, those with signs of Esther’s anointing must find the courage to stand up for what is right and just, even if it means going against the grain.

6. Discernment

Esther was wise enough to devise a plan that outwitted her enemy (Esther 5:8-14). Like Esther, you may find yourself repeatedly making wise decisions in difficult situations. Those with signs of Esther’s anointing must seek wisdom in order to make the right decisions. This includes understanding and discernment so they can evaluate situations clearly and make the best choices for everyone involved.

7. Comfortable working behind the scenes

Before being chosen as Queen, Esther lived quietly and humbly among her people. Those carrying signs of the Esther anointing may not always seek the spotlight—they are often content to serve God while hidden from view. However, a time will come when God will reveal you to the world!

8. Persistent in the face of setbacks and rejections

Despite facing fierce opposition from Haman, Esther never gave up (Esther 7:3-6). Like her, you may have a strong determination to keep serving God even when the journey is difficult.

9. Focused on your mission despite distractions and temptations

Queen Esther kept her eyes on God’s plan despite many invitations to enjoy the luxuries of palace life. Those with signs of the Esther anointing have a similar ability to stay focused on their mission regardless of what is happening around them.

10. Heart for justice and righteousness

Queen Esther was willing to risk her life in order to protect her people from injustice (Esther 7:3-6). Like Esther, those who carry signs of the Esther anointing may be driven by their passion for justice and righteousness.

11. Unwavering faith

Despite being led into exile by King Nebuchadnezzar, Esther remained devoted to God (Esther 2:5-7). Those with signs of the Esther anointing often share this same quality—they remain faithful even in the hardest of times.

Those who have signs of the Esther anointing must remain steadfast in their faith, even when things seem bleak and uncertain. Despite opposition or opposition from those with power, they must stay true to their beliefs and values. This can be difficult as it requires self-discipline and obedience to God’s will rather than our own desires or opinions. You remain faithful even when everything else fails you.

12. Selflessness

Esther was willing to put aside her own dreams, desires, and safety for the greater good of her people. Having signs of Esther’s anointing means that one should possess similar qualities to make a difference in society and protect others from danger or harm.

13. Humility

Despite her power and position, Esther remained humble throughout her journey to save her people. This trait of humility should remain in those who have signs of Esther’s anointing so that they can put aside their pride to make the best decisions for themselves and others. Esther humbly obeyed the commands of her cousin Mordecai even though she was Queen. She asked nothing in return—she simply served out of love for her people and God’s glory.

14. Discretion

Those with signs of Esther’s anointing need to be aware of their words and actions, as they may have an impact on the people around them. They must be mindful not to speak or act rashly to avoid any potential consequences for themselves or others. Why do I say this? Esther did not reveal her identity (her nationality or family background) until the appointed time (See Esther 2:10).

15. Resilience

Despite facing challenging circumstances, Esther remained resilient through her trials. Similarly, those with signs of Esther’s anointing must be strong and determined in order to overcome any obstacles that may come their way.

3 Keys to activate the Esther anointing

I want to review three keys to activate the Esther anointing and how these same principles still apply today. As we trust in God and remain obedient to His will, we too can receive the Esther Anointing.

1. Prayer and fasting

It’s easy to think that Esther was chosen to be Queen because she was just lucky or beautiful. Nope! It was because she had submitted herself to God’s will and purpose for her life. She was walking in her divine favor and destiny. Esther was also committed to God, no matter the outcome, and asked others to pray and fast with her. This is how she obtained the favor of the King and the kingdom.

Esther 4:15-16 says, “Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the King, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”

During this time Esther also put herself in a position to receive a blessing. She demonstrated humility and obedience, understanding that it was God who had chosen her and given her favor with the King. This is a prime example of how seeking God through prayer, and fasting is essential when trying to discover His will for your life.

2. Preparation

The importance of preparation should not be overlooked when activating your own Esther Anointing!

Like other anointings, the Esther Anointing is also activated through preparation. Queen Esther purposefully prepared herself for the King’s presence by undergoing 12 months of beauty treatments (Esther 2:12). This is an excellent example of how we must take action to receive the blessings promised to us. We cannot simply sit back and expect everything to fall into place without doing any work on our end. It’s essential that we put ourselves in a good position to be prepared for what God has for us by taking steps toward activating His anointing within our lives.

    3. Process

Finally, the Esther Anointing is activated through the process. Queen Esther had to wait a long before she was chosen by the King (Esther 2:7–14). This is an important reminder that we must be patient and trust God’s perfect timing. During this time, it’s essential to keep our faith strong as we continue to seek Him. We must remember how He worked in Esther’s life and how He will work in ours if only we remain faithful and obedient.

And that’s it, folks, the Esther anointing

The Esther Anointing is not something to take lightly; it requires dedication from those who have signs of this anointing to make a meaningful impact on society.

Ultimately, the power of the Esther Anointing lies in one’s ability to recognize these signs and work to embody them so that one can be an effective leader. In the end, having signs of Esther’s Anointing is a great responsibility, but it is also a blessing that should not be taken for granted.

Lastly, don’t overlook your assignment when God elevates and positions you! Remember what God has called you to do! More importantly- never forget that God lifted you to that position and status; give Him the glory.❤️

P.S I included Esther in a blog post and YouTube video that talks about “women in the Bible”. Here is the YouTube video:
