What is a powerful morning prayer?

It is a prayer that helps us prepare ourselves for our morning. Preparing ourselves for the morning entails prayer, and it can also entail saying affirmations.

Bottomline- Prayer is truly an essential step toward a purpose-driven life.

As Christians, we lean on the grace of God that is sufficient for us and his mercies that are new every morning. We wake up intentionally and ask the Lord to go before us.

Seven reasons why you should start each day with prayer

Here are seven reasons why you should start each day with prayer!

Reason #1: Center your mind and thoughts on God

When you start your day with prayer, it helps to center your mind and thoughts on God. It allows you to focus on what is truly important and sets the tone for the rest of your day. When you make time for prayer in the morning, you are indicating to God that you are putting Him first in your life. This is an important part of having a strong relationship with God.

Reason #2: Reduce stress and anxiety

Another reason to start your day with a morning prayer is to help reduce stress and anxiety. Prayer is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety because it allows you to hand over your worries and concerns to God. If you take a few minutes each morning to pray, it will help to clear your mind and allow you to focus on the positive things in your life.

Reason #3: Guidance or direction from God

If you are unsure about something in your life, take a few minutes to pray and ask God for His guidance. He will provide you with the wisdom and direction you need to make the right decisions. Morning prayer is also a great way to start your day if you are looking for guidance or direction from God.

Reason #4: Help to improve your attitude

Prayer helps remind us of all the good things in our lives and allows us to focus on the positive. Another benefit of morning prayer is that it can help improve your attitude. If you start your day by spending time with God, you will be more likely to have a positive attitude throughout the day.

Reason #5: Great way to connect with God

Grace for purpose morning prayer is also a great way to connect with God. When you take the time to pray, you open up a communication line with God. This is an essential part of maintaining a strong relationship with Him. When you pray, take the time to listen to what God has to say to you. He will often provide guidance and direction through His Word.

Reason #6: Set the tone for your day

Praying can also help set the tone for your day and change your perspective. It allows you to start your day with a grateful heart and reminds you of all the good things in your life.

Reason #7: Help to improve your relationship with God

Finally, morning prayer is a great way to start your day because it can help improve your relationship with God. When you make time for prayer each morning, you are indicating to God that you are committed to Him. This is important to have a strong and healthy relationship with God. Make sure to set aside some time each day to pray and spend time with God.

People from the Bible who started their days with prayer

I will look at the contrast between the old covenant and the new covenant:

Old covenant prayers

In the Old Covenant, there were three times during the day that people were to pray: 9 am, 3 pm, and 6 pm. We see this highlighted in Psalm 55:17, which says, “Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress.”

In the book of Psalms, David says, “Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws” (Psalm 119:164). I don’t know if this meant that David literally prayed seven times a day, but it shows us the importance he placed on prayer.

In the old covenant, a priest was needed to offer sacrifice. However, in the new covenant, we see that Jesus is our high priest, and he offers himself as a living sacrifice. Therefore, prayer in the new covenant differs from the old covenant.

With that, let’s segue into the new covenant…

New covenant prayer change

So what changed? Why did prayer move from a three-time event to something we can do anytime and anywhere?

The simple answer is that Jesus changed everything. Jesus Christ ushered in a new covenant with God- one in which we are now able to approach Him anytime we want, not just at certain set times throughout the day. This is such a huge change from the Old Covenant, where people were only able to approach God at certain times and in certain places.

In the New Covenant, we have been given the incredible privilege of being able to approach God anytime, anywhere- and that includes prayer. So if you’re feeling led to pray at any time, go for it! Isn’t that such a beautiful thing? ❤️

Ok, now for some examples…we see in the book of Mark that Jesus rose early in the morning to pray (Mark 1:35). This was before He began His busy day of teaching, healing, and ministering. If Jesus, our God, and Savior, found it important to start His day with prayer, how much more should we?

These are just a few examples of people in the Bible who prayed in the morning. You can also find many more stories and examples throughout scripture of people praying at different times throughout the day.

However, there is something special about starting your day off with prayer. When you wake up in the morning, you start a new day with a clean slate. You have the opportunity to set the tone for the day and start on the right foot by talking to God and asking for His grace and guidance.

Powerful morning prayer

Prayer is such an important part of our relationship with God. It is how we communicate with Him, and it is how we grow closer to Him. When we start our day with a powerful morning prayer, we align our hearts and minds with God’s will for our lives. We are asking Him to lead and guide us throughout the day. We are also thanking Him for His many blessings in our lives.

Below is a prayer to help get you started. Feel free to use this prayer or modify it to fit your needs. As you may notice, a lot of scripture is embedded into the prayer!

Here is the Christian Morning Prayer :

Dear God,

Thank You for another day. Thank You for the opportunity to start fresh and new. I don’t take it for granted that I’m here. As I begin this morning prayer, I enter your gates with thanksgiving and into Your courts with praise. I praise you, for I know you are the one true living God. You are all-knowing and all-seeing.

God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob… I praise you because you are constant! You are the same yesterday and today and forever,

I praise you, Lord, for you are El Olam, the everlasting God. You are the ancient of days, my creator! Jehovah Jireh, you are my provider.

Jesus, I know that your grace is sufficient for me today. I lean on your steadfastness that never ceases. Praise and Glory to you for your mercies never end, for they are new every morning! Great is your faithfulness, my Lord!

I know your plans for this day are for prosperity, not harm. Therefore, I trust in you wholeheartedly and refuse to lean on my understanding.

I thank you that you have gone before me today. I lean on your Spirit to guide me and direct me. I pray that You help me stay focused on what is truly important. I pray that I have a positive attitude and that my day will be productive.

I know that you have given me the authority to trample over snakes and scorpions, and I cancel any plans or schemes from the enemy.

Lord, you are my refuge! No harm will overtake me, and no disaster will come near me. I pray that your angels will surround me. Thank you for your divine protection. I plead the blood of the Lamb over my life and that of my family.

I bless you, for you have heard my prayer.

I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

And that’s it, folks, Powerful Morning Prayer

Praying in the morning is a great way to start your day. It helps to center your thoughts on God, reduces stress and anxiety, and can improve your relationship with Him.

If you are looking for guidance or direction from God, take a few minutes each morning to pray and recite Christian affirmations. You will be surprised at how much better your day will go when you start it off this way!

O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.

  1. I agree Heather that acknowledging God through prayer in the morning is a powerful way to start the day. It helps us stay centred on Him as we go through the day. Love the prayer.
It is so easy to get waylaid by our phones or all that we must do but that discipline of talking to Him first thing in the morning is so good.
    Blessings to you 💙
