Sage itself isn’t inherently demonic. In its natural state, it’s simply an herb from the mint family—created by God, like any other plant.
I would like to share an excerpt from my Crystals blog post because it ties in beautifully with this topic, and I don’t think it’s worth doing another in-depth research:
However, when one entertains and uses them to access power, healing, or protection, that’s when things change. They may be unknowingly engaging in demonic activity.
We need to ask ourselves if these “powers” don’t originate from God, where do they originate from? Well, they likely originate from another ungodly realm.
When we focus our attention on created things rather than the Creator, we could be inviting the enemy into our lives.
Friends, spiritual warfare is real. The enemy will take advantage of any opportunity to enter our lives and wreak havoc. One way they do this is by attaching themselves to objects that people focus their attention on.
The reason I’m writing this is to share a real-life story about sage that deeply unsettled me and confirmed something in my spirit.
Three weeks ago, I was in my kitchen when I saw two ambulances outside my neighbor’s house. Paramedics were wheeling her out on a stretcher. I saw our HOA president running toward her, so I instinctively followed suit. She had been navigating several personal challenges, and the scene felt heavy before I even understood what had happened.
As I reached the stretcher, she was writhing in pain, clutching the right side of her abdomen. Tears streamed down her face. I held her hand for a brief moment, and we exchanged a few words before the ambulance doors closed and rushed her away.
About an hour later, my phone rang.
“Heather, you won’t believe what just happened. I’m fine — I’m 100% fine. They’re about to do an MRI, but I’m okay. No painkillers, nothing!”
I literally gasped with relief and gratitude—but I was also confused. I had just seen her in unbearable pain.
Then she told me the rest.
Earlier that day, she had gone on Facebook Marketplace and bought sage. After picking it up, she hurried home, lit it, and went down into the basement. There, she began “cleansing” her home. But as she made her way back upstairs, a sharp, intense pain struck her abdomen. She later described it as an attack. Barely able to stand, she crawled toward the door and managed to call 911.
That part stayed with me.
After that incident, she hasn’t been able to sleep in her home. Honestly, I haven’t wanted to press her for details about why she’s essentially had to leave. It just feels as though the peace that once filled that space is gone.
You can draw your own conclusions about sage. I’ve personally never felt led to use it, and after witnessing this experience, I feel even more settled in that decision. For me, it was enough confirmation to keep my distance.

Hugs,

Satan has no shame in using anything he can to drag us down with him.
Yes for sure! I totally agree, Satan tries to use anything.
I agree with you about using it for certain things and we have to ask ourselves where does its power come from if it is not from God. It is just a tool in the hands of the enemy.
