My daughter’s autism diagnosis:
When I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter, I tried to do everything right i.e. eating healthy meals. My beautiful daughter was born with a perfect APGAR score. She weighed 8 lbs 12 ounces (huge!). She hit all her milestones and walked at 9 months! There were no signs of delay, but at some point, I started to notice slow regression. When my daughter was 2 1/2 years old, I stopped breastfeeding (I know 2.5 years is a LONG time!). By age 3, my daughter had become nonverbal and this is when she got her Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and started school.
With continued speech therapy, she began to communicate again (mostly through echolalia) but she had lost quite a bit of skill. With her regression came behavioral problems. At 3 1/2 years, my daughter was officially diagnosed with Autism.
