Each year, I take the time to write a birthday reflection. I have been doing this for many years- it actually started from my journaling days!
These reflections provide an opportunity for me to pause and evaluate how far I’ve come and where I still need to go on this journey of life.
As I reflect on my recent birthday, I am reminded of several powerful lessons that have become increasingly clearer over the years.
Ready? Let’s go!
These are the five lessons I will hold dear as I enter my new birth year:
1. Importance of pursuing your purpose
As Christians, we are all uniquely gifted with skills and talents that can be used for God’s glory – but we must actively seek our purpose to make the most of it. It’s not enough to just sit back and wait for things to happen – we must put in the work and effort to pursue our purpose every day.
2. Don’t skip over the process
Life isn’t a sprint but rather a marathon where you have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and take it one step at a time. There are high points along the way, but there will inevitably be struggles, too. We can’t expect to skip over them or pretend they don’t exist; instead, we need to face each challenge head-on and push through with grace and courage.
3. Stay focused and not get distracted by the noise
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the millions of messages and ideas that bombard us day in and day out. But as Christians, we must stay focused on our purpose and prioritize what truly matters – not just be drawn in by every shiny new thing that comes along.
4. Continue walking in authenticity
As Christians, it’s crucial for us to remain true to whom God has made us – even when it’s hard or challenging. We must strive to always walk with integrity and live according to our faith, no matter how difficult it may seem at times.
You can read more about authenticity here. It’s one of my favorite topics!
5. Try new things!
Life can become pretty monotonous if we don’t make an effort to challenge ourselves and look for ways to grow. It’s essential that we stay open-minded and willing to take risks to gain new experiences and insight into the world around us.
And that’s it folks, my birthday reflection
Hope you enjoyed this post.
P.S. I skipped my traditional birthday dinner this year…we opted for an intimate family lunch. Then later we got cupcakes instead of a cake! Here is a picture of my birthday cupcakes.❤️
I love Georgetown cupcakes (from TLC’s DC Cupcakes!)….my favorite flavor is red velvet!
