This post will be a life update regarding my YouTube channel
Switching things up to write a short Christian YouTube reflection post/life update!
Here goes…
Making videos on YouTube can be a fantastic way to reach out to your audience and share the gospel. As a Christian YouTuber, I’ve found that it has been an incredible platform for connecting with my viewers and making deep, meaningful connections.
In this blog post, I want to share four of the most important lessons I’ve learned from creating videos…plus a note on why I’m taking a break!
Ready? Let’s go!
First things first…I love YouTube!
First of all, can I say that I LOVE YouTube? I love it so much, and now that I’m more comfortable on camera, I feel that I’m just having a conversation with a friend. I genuinely anticipate recording my videos! Over time, the videos have brought out my warm, caring, creative, empathetic and rather silly personality.😂(I legit laugh on every video I record).
How I came up with this decision
Well, it’s super simple. I have numerous blog posts that are sitting in my drafts. Yes- a backlog.😭
So my break decision was really easy because writing has always been my priority over YouTube.
Four lessons I’ve learned on Christian YouTube so far…
1. Prioritize your work through being organized
As a Christian YouTuber, it can be challenging to balance creating videos with other tasks and obligations. It’s essential to prioritize your work by deciding which tasks are most important and need to be completed first. This will help you stay focused on the tasks that need your immediate attention while allowing you to create quality and engaging content for your audience.
2. Authenticity is key
I have learned a lot about myself and the importance of being authentic in what you do. It’s important not to be a carbon copy of other people’s YouTube channels – but instead find your own voice and use it to bless others.
Check out my blog post regarding authenticity that’s titled, “9 Tips for Authenticity in your God-given Purpose | Christian Authenticity”
3. Prioritize what matters most (what is your primary passion?)
When it comes to our creative pursuits and life in general, it’s crucial to prioritize what matters most. My love/primary passion is writing, so I wanted to ensure that I spend more time on this. This meant taking a break from YouTube to focus more on writing. It’s not easy making decisions like this, but it’s okay to strategize, refocus, and ensure that you take breaks.
4. Focus on impact over metrics
It can be easy to get hung up on statistics or how many views or likes you are getting, but I have learnt to focus more on my content’s impact rather than the numbers. As Christians, our purpose is ultimately to seek the kingdom first (Matthew 6:33), so focusing less on metrics and more on making sure that our content is impacting and helping others is key.
And that’s it, folks…my upcoming YouTube break!
Here is my last YouTube video that goes live on 12/26/2022. I recorded it the first week of November…so you can technically say that my break is already “live.” LOL
I don’t know how long it will take to work on my backlog blog posts, but I’m hoping to be back to YouTube mid next year!
Hugs!
